The Depopulation program was developed by Citizens with authorization from the Florida legislature. The program was created to reduce the number of policies and exposure Citizens currently assumes and to encourage new as well as existing insurance companies to grow their Florida market share. This benefits all Floridians by preventing or reducing assessments charged to all property insurance consumers. As a result, Florida’s insurance market becomes healthier as private companies offer coverage for our state’s growing number of residents.

The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation approved Mangrove’s certificate of authority to provide P&C coverage in Florida on January 15, 2025. Your agent and the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation have endorsed Mangrove to assume your Citizens policy. By accepting Mangrove’s offer, it is a fantastic way to enter back into the private insurance market and obtain expanded coverage, a lower risk of premium assessments and expedited claims handling.

If the date of loss occurs on or after the assumption date, Mangrove will oversee your claim. You may contact our Claims Department at 877-700-3727. *All claim inquiries for losses that occurred prior to the assumption date should be directed to Citizens at 866-411-2742.

The renewal offer will be available approximately 60 days prior to the expiration date of your Citizens policy.

We offer Annual, Semi-Annual, and Quarterly payment plans. However, we do not offer payments made by Third-Party premium finance companies. Credit Card and ACH payments are also accepted.

Mangrove intends to keep policies assumed through the depopulation program. Policies are selected based on criteria provided by Citizens. If a substantial change in risk occurs, we will communicate with the policyholder and agent regarding any action to be taken. Mangrove, like other insurance companies, may cancel or non-renew assumed policies in accordance with Florida statutes and OIR guidelines.

When Mangrove assumes your policy, you will enjoy the same coverages that the current Citizens policy has.

You will continue to be served by Citizens until the normal expiration date of your current Citizens policy. All premium payments, questions, and changes should continue to be directed to your agent or Citizens until you receive your renewal policy from Mangrove.
